Routeways are delivering the Outdoor Education Advisory Service for schools in Plymouth on behalf of Plymouth City Council.

There are two options for Academies, Free Schools and organisations in the voluntary sector.

1. To use Evolve, Plymouth City Council’s electronic approval system, which includes support, set up, account maintenance, access to documents used for generic risk management.   This will provide access to a library and sample school policy documents via the resources section. Safety and training notices and risk management information.

   EVOLVE is an online system for the planning, approval and management of educational visits, sports fixtures and extra-curricular activities.

   It is proven to reduce paperwork, simplify procedures, produce self-review and inspection preparation data, and improve staff confidence in that they automatically follow both employer, and National Guidelines.

   It is available to all maintained schools and can be bought in by Academies and free schools at very reasonable rates.

2. Using Evolve with full support including:

• Access to guidance so that EVC’s and leaders can seek help with planning activities so that the LA will be obligated to work with you, should you have a serious incident.

• Selective checks on approvals to confirm the effectiveness of planning quality safe learning experiences off the school site.

• Annual review with EVC’s to confirm their role is effective using national measures short report to governors.

• Updating of processes and policy in your dedicated areas each year we will read through and bring it up to date in consultation with your EVC using the annual meeting to finalise the content.

• Secondary school tailoring of service to complement different models.

• Technical support for academies
