Safe Space Groups

Our safe space groups give individuals a place to socialise, learn new skills, and get involved in activities where they can have fun and support their mental wellbeing.

From arts and crafts to cooking and leisure activities, our groups have a lot to offer. Find out how Routeways can help to improve social skills and mental wellbeing by exploring our groups.

In Other Words

A safe, supportive, non-judgemental peer-support mental health and emotional wellbeing group for children and young people, aged 8 to 12 (primary) and 13 to 18 (secondary).

We offer informal support alongside engaging activities to help to build supportive relationships, connections with others and skills to promote better mental wellbeing. No referral is required, the group is available to anyone who feels the support would be beneficial.

In Other Words runs from our Devonport Park Activity Centre, 4pm-6pm every Monday (each week alternating between the primary and secondary groups). The group is free to attend (subject to change).

Routes to Grow

Routes to Grow offers a safe space for individuals of all ages who may be at risk of social isolation and loneliness.

The project focuses on hands-on activities utilising greenhouse space, polytunnels and raised beds. Our gardener guides the sessions towards development of the space for service users, cultivation of produce and growth of plants. Staff are on hand for practical mental health support in an informal and relaxed setting to listen, support and signpost to additional help as required.

Routes to Grow is open every Tuesday and Friday from 10am-3pm at our Devonport Park Activity Centre. It is free to attend. For more information, please contact Alison Roberts.

Complex Care

The Over 18's Complex Care provision is aimed at being a transition group for young people moving from children's to adult social care.

The project was set up off the back of feedback from parents who were concerned about what would happen when their young people turned 18. The project offers a space for young adults with complex needs to engage in social and leisure activities that suit their interests.

This group runs on Wednesdays and Sundays from our Beckley Centre from 10:30am–3:30pm. The price is based on staffing level required, please enquire for further details.

Adult Social

The adult social group offers a safe social space for adults with additional needs aged over 24.

A space where individuals can meet similar peers, make new friends, and learn new skills. A range of on-site and community visits are offered to engage the individuals in social and leisure activities suited to their personal interests.

The group runs every other Monday, 7pm-9pm at the Beckley Centre and costs £8 per session.
